Women Empowerment Month- Meet the Nena Design Team

Women Empowerment Month- Meet the Nena Design Team

For Women Empowerment Month we had to include all of the amazing women on our US team. For this week let's meet our women from our Design Team!

Sydney Davis- Senior Graphic Designer

  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hey, I'm Syd, 25 y/o Senior Graphic Designer and all around OCD freak, recovering sugar addict and lover of all things Mexican. Despite what they say, I believe you should be able to judge a book by it's cover haha. TBH, I spend a majority of my time thinking about the next thing I am going to eat. Guilty pleasure: Online shopping. It's like a gift to me from me.

  1. What's been your biggest hurdle thus far?

Something that I struggle with is when things in my life don't go accordingly to plan! I am SUCH a planner and I have a vision of how things should go and how I want them to be. I have a hard time adjusting my vision for my picture perfect life, to what it actually turns out to be. Nobody's life goes according to plan and we need to learn to roll with the punches...

  1. How did you overcome it?

Still working on it lol the daily struggle is real, but I think I have learned to take what comes, and to be happy because a majority of the time, what I thought I wanted in life was not what I needed.

  1. What advice do you have for other women?

How you react to "the issue", is the issue. Don't hold grudges and don't get offended by things that other people do. Have a positive attitude, just do you and you'll be better off for it.

  1. Share with us one of your favorite inspirational quotes.

"Don't compare your hustle, to someone else's highlight reel"

Sarah Kreitlein- Junior Graphic Designer

  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Well, My name is Sarah. I'm 25 and the Junior Graphic designer at Nena and Co. My family and faith probably make up who I am the most and everything else is just icing on the funfetti cake for me. I am a lover of fries and ice cream. A Hawaii enthusiastic (borderline obsessed). A huge sucker for watercolor and hand lettering. And I have dreams of being a photographers and mermaid one day.

  1. What's been your biggest hurdle thus far?
I have a hard time delving into this question because I know how blessed I have been in my life overall. If I were to write out my biggest hurdles they would look like like ant hills in comparison to most people I know. I will say though that it doesn't make them any less real or hard for me to overcome. I think the best way to sum up most of my struggles is that life in general doesn't always go as planned. I had dreams of how my life would look by now and I will say, this is not how I have pictured it. Not even close. Somes parts it's not in the sweet "Oh but it is so much better and worthwhile" way. Working through those parts and attempting to gain patients with the things I do hope will eventually work out is just discouraging sometimes.

  1. How did you overcome it?
I think along with most things, these hardships are things that can't be completely overcome all at once at least. Everyone is constantly trying to manage getting over these hurdles without tripping all over the place and making things worse. haha. But the days I feel it is easiest of handle my heartaches is the days I focus on what this unexpected path has given me. While my gains from this unexpected path don't always feel like a fair trade off to what I had wanted, it definitely gives my heart some peace and hope that this time in my life is preparing me in ways I can't understand yet.

  1. What advice do you have for other women?
I love the attitude that is going around right now of "Everyone is fighting a silent battle" I think that is the most important thing to remember. That even the people whose lives you might envy have icebergs below the surface that you just don't see. So be a little kinder than you think is necessary, it is never something you will regret.

  1. Share with us one of your favorite inspirational quotes.
"Be open to the possibility, but never attached to the outcome."

Jessica Andreasen- In house Product Photographer

  1. Tell me a little something about yourself.

Hey there, my name is Jessica!  I am a South Dakotan now making beautiful Utah my home!  I moved here in 2015 and have been working for Nena since October 2017.  I love to be outdoors, which makes Utah a perfect fit for me! I am a nature lover, a rock climber, a yogi, vegan, an artist and so many other things - but I could go on forever about the things I love!

  1. What’s your biggest hurdle thus far?

Something difficult I have gone through is finding myself and being the best me.  This has been difficult because it has included stepping away from the religious background from childhood and choosing my own path. As you can imagine, this has caused some tension between myself and my family - who I love dearly are very important to me.

  1. How did you overcome it?

How I have overcome this is by being myself, being open about who I am and being confident in that!  I try to keep a smile on my face during difficult times and conversations. Being kind, respectful and having the support of close friends and my boyfriend is also a great help!

  1. What advice do you have for other women?

My advice to other women (and people in general) is to BE YOU!  Be a little selfish if you have to if that means you get to follow your dreams and be the best version of you there is - you!  I think it is so important to go after the things that make you happy and bring you closer to your goals. Also, being selfish does not mean not being rude!  Be kind, smile a lot and be yourself!

  1. Share with us one of your favorite inspirational quotes.

One of my favorite quotes is, “Sometimes what you’re most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.”
