Details

Our One Of A Kind Collection consists of products constructed using curated vintage fabrics purchased from loyal Guatemalan market vendors. All of the fabrics seen in the One Of A Kind Collection have lived a full life before being incorporated into your Nena product! These vintage fabrics were woven from the memory by a Guatemalan artisan up to 10 years ago; each pattern distinctive of the region where the artisan resides. Truly and completely one-of-a-kind, these products are a masterpiece!

Aniline is the most natural, soft, and highest quality of all leather types. It is generally more expensive because only the best raw hides are used.
This leather becomes more beautiful over time and will develop a natural patina. This leather starts very structured but becomes more malleable and supple with consistent usage. A natural characteristic of this leather allows heat and natural oils from your body to be absorbed because there is no pigment or polyurethane which is typically used on lesser quality leathers. It is superior quality you can feel. We recommend our leather care system which can be found here: Leather Care Set to treat your Nena leather product.

Each woolen panel is created from hand dyed threads using natural dyes. The patterns and weaving techniques used are unique to the Zapotec artisans who have shared their skills from generation to generation. Each panel is an expression of their culture. The co-operative we work with was founded to support and empower the women of Oaxaca, Mexico through their creative and traditional weaving techniques. This amazing group of women are overcoming much by being able to work and share their weaving talents with the world.

Care
LEATHER & FABRIC CARE
We make every effort to provide our customers with the best-handcrafted and high-quality bags. Please note that all our processes to make the bags are done by hand, from curing, cutting, and treating the leather to using up-cycled huipils. Our bags have natural characteristics and qualities that should not be considered as flaws or as damage because they do not interfere with the functionality of the bag. We up-cycle vintage Maya clothing to make beautiful one-of-a-kind products. Many times you will find snags in the pattern. This is normal. Should your patterned huipil snag you can snip the loose threads with scissors. Do not pull them.
Some people also like to use Scotchgard Brand Protector on the fabric portion of their bag.
Should you choose to, you may use a leather conditioner but many of our customers prefer to let the natural oils of their skin wear on the leather to get that buttery soft feel to them, we advise doing a test spot on the leather before applying a conditioner or treatment to the entire bag. You can read our tutorial on how to use the leather care treatment if you choose to go this route.
NENA & CO. REPAIRS POLICY
After 60 days from the time you've received your bag, Nena & Co. will no longer assume responsibility for repairs of your product. However, we are more than happy to assist with recommendations on where you can have your bag repaired. We use our local shoe cobbler or specialty bag shops for any repairs or customization we have done to Nena bags.
Nena & Co. is not responsible for damages that may occur during care for merchandise; including but not limited to conditioning washing, drying and/or dry cleaning.
